DermaXtract and DermaScreen

The EurobioPlex DermaXtract and DermaScreen workflow supports extraction and real-time PCR detection of clinically relevant dermatophytes from nail, hair and skin samples. The workflow combines PCR-ready genomic DNA extraction with qualitative multiplex PCR detection of dermatophytes, including Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton interdigitale, supporting dermatophyte screening and fungal infection testing applications. Compatible platforms include Bio-Rad CFX96 and CFX Opus, Thermo Fisher QuantStudio 5/7, Roche LightCycler and Bio Molecular Systems MIC instruments.

The Myra Liquid Handling System automates key DermaXtract extraction and DermaScreen qPCR setup steps, including extraction buffer addition, inhibition control addition, stabilisation buffer addition and transfer of extracted DNA into PCR reactions. As an Integrated Sample Preparation script, this workflow can be loaded directly into the Workbench qPCR Setup application, enabling automated sample preparation and qPCR reaction setup within a single workflow. Automated reagent preparation and PCR setup reduce hands-on time and improve reproducibility, while incubation, centrifugation and real-time PCR amplification are performed separately in accordance with the EurobioPlex workflow.
