MALDI-TOF MS – Formic Acid and Matrix Deposition
When preparing samples for MALDI-TOF analysis, each sample must be overlaid with a matrix, which is essential for generating ions during the ionisation process. In some cases, formic acid may also be applied to aid in cell wall lysis and to enhance co-crystallisation with the matrix.
The protocol offers an automated solution on the Myra for preparing both Bruker 96-well stainless-steel MSP plates and disposable MTP plates. It enables precise and accurate pipetting of volumes as low as 1 μL of formic acid and/or matrix into each well, ensuring reproducibility while minimising the risk of cross-contamination.
