Screentape Assay Setup for TapeStation
The Agilent TapeStation is an automated electrophoresis system used to assess the quality, quantity,
and size distribution of DNA or RNA samples with high precision and minimal hands-on time. In an
NGS workflow, it serves as a critical quality control checkpoint at two key stages: first to confirm that
input material is intact and suitable for processing, and later to verify the size and purity of the final
library before sequencing. Its rapid turnaround time, low sample volume requirement, and ability to
resolve subtle differences in fragment size and integrity make it indispensable for ensuring highquality, reliable sequencing results.
This script enables automated setup of samples for Agilent TapeStation ScreenTape assays using the
Myra Liquid Handling System. Each sample is transferred from the source plate, together with the
required buffer, into a destination plate or strip tubes in a format suitable for TapeStation loading.
By automating the pipetting steps, the script reduces manual error, ensures consistent sample
handling, and streamlines preparation—particularly advantageous when processing large numbers
of samples within an NGS workflow.
